INGREDIENTS:

1 large head broccoli, washed and cut into bite-size florets
1 tablespoon tamari
1 tablespoon brown sugar or your preferred sweetener
1 tablespoon minced sweet onion
1 medium clove garlic, minced

3

INSTRUCTIONS:

Fit a sauce pan with a steamer basket, and bring two inches of water to a boil. Add the broccoli, cover, and steam for 10 to 12 minutes until crisp-tender. Transfer to a medium-sized bowl.

Meanwhile, put the tamari, sugar, onion, and garlic in a small bowl and briskly whisk to combine. Pour the sauce over the hot broccoli and gently stir to coat and serve (see note).

4

NOTE: The Sweet Tamari-Onion Sauce sauce tastes great served over steamed kale, too!

NOTE: As pictured above, you can garnish the broccoli (right before serving) with 1/4 cup seeded and finely diced sweet red pepper that has been lightly steamed, if desired.
