ABOUT THE RECIPE:

Whip up this tasty guacamole in less than 10 minutes. It’s a dandy dip to serve for an appetizer, sandwich spread, or it’s great for making avocado toast! Lime adds zing, while cayenne provides just enough heat. Yum.

MAKES 4 SERVINGS

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 large (or 3 medium) ripe avocados, pitted, peeled, and rough chopped
  • 2 very small limes, cut in half and freshly squeezed
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder 
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (⅛ teaspoon for less spicy, or omit)
  • ½ heaping cup diced grape or cherry tomatoes
  • ¼ cup minced sweet onion

INSTRUCTIONS:

Put the chopped avocado into a medium-sized bowl. Add the lime juice, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mash together using a potato masher or large fork, until almost smooth. Fold in the diced tomatoes and minced onion. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve with veggie sticks, whole-grain crackers, and/ or tortilla chips.
