ABOUT THE RECIPE:

This tasty homemade hummus is full of garlicky flavor, accented with freshly squeezed lemon juice, zesty chili powder, and tasty tahini. Yum!

Makes 1½ to 2 cups

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
1/3 cup water, plus more as needed
3 cloves garlic, chopped
3 tablespoons sesame tahini
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
Freshly chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Put all of the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Add a more water if needed to achieve desired consistency. Transfer the hummus to a pretty bowl. For a festive presentation, sprinkle the top with fresh chopped parsley, if desired.
