Basic Brown Basmati Rice

ABOUT THE RECIPE:

Here is an easy recipe to prepare brown basmati rice for a satisfying side dish.

Makes 4 servings

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup brown basmati rice, rinsed well and drained
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 vegan bouillon cube, crumbled (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Put the rice and water in a medium-sized sauce pan. Cover and bring to a boil over medium heat. Decrease the heat to medium-low, and continue to simmer for 30 to 40 minutes, or until all of the water is absorbed and rice is tender. (Add a bit more water while rice is cooking if bottom of pan becomes dry before rice is tender.)

Stir with a fork to fluff. Cover and remove from heat. Let the rice stand for 5 minutes. Serve.
