How to be Vegan, Jazzy and Green!

Being vegan, jazzy and green is an objective on the Jazzy Vegetarian Radio show today! Earth Day is April 22, so what better time than now to start your spring-cleaning regime with a touch of green? For those of you who have faithfully listened to this show from day one, you already know that my favorite green cleaning product is plain old baking soda. Yup, baking soda, that’s it. Visit jazzyvegetarian.com and click on the Living Green button to get my free, top 10 list of uses for this inexpensive and eco-friendly product. Baking soda has so many uses both in the kitchen and in and around your home and best of all, it still costs only about 1 dollar per box! Jazzy!

Today, we featured Jazz Ambassador, Roseanna Vitro who is a jazz singer, clinician, recording artist, and vocal instructor. Roseanna has served as an official Jazz Ambassador, sponsored in 2009 by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the U.S. State Department, and she has presented concerts and workshops around the world. We chatted about her exciting new CD featuring great Randy Newman tunes. The recording, “Sail Away, the Randy Newman Project,” features the brilliant compositions of Randy Newman re-imagined through the arrangements of Mark Soskin. Roseanna will be appearing in concert at Dizzy’s in New York City on June 13th, 2011 to celebrate the release of the CD! Don’t miss it! Roseanna shared her very jazzy Butternut Squash recipe with us. Yay!

It was my great privilege today to welcome Colleen Holland who has been vegan since 1995. Colleen is Associate Publisher and co-creator of “VegNews.” From the beginning, Colleen has helped to grow the publication from a 28-page newspaper to an award-winning magazine. We chatted up VegNews! Colleen talked about her favorite chocolate treat (listen to the show to hear the chocolate treat that she loves). Then she shared her Jazzy-licious recipe for “Marinated Kale Salad.” Yummy Yummy Yum!
