Dr. Neal Barnard, one of the country's leading health advocates, was my guest on Jazzy Vegetarian Radio today. Dr. Barnard discussed Cancer vs. Diet, and how adopting a vegan diet may help in the prevention of cancer, or help in cancer survival. He shared information about the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) which he founded in 1985. He talked about his book "The Cancer Survivor's Guide." He discussed the "New Four Food Groups" (Fruits, Vegetables, Beans (Legumes), and Whole Grains." He shared several of his wonderful basic recipe solutions for eating a delcious, low fat, vegan diet, every day. We chatted about the "21 Day Vegan Kickstart" a three-week plan that he masterminded. The diet is "designed for anyone who wants to explore and experience the health benefits of a vegan diet. Dr Barnard shared how "low-fat vegan, plant-based, diets are the easiest way to trim excess weight, prevent diabetes, cut cholesterol, lower blood pressure, prevent and reverse heart disease, and reduce cancer risk. They even trim our carbon footprint." For more information about Dr. Barnard and PCRM please visit: http://www.nealbarnard.org/. On another "note," holiday music today was by the great Joe Beck and virtuoso flutist Ali Ryerson. I shared my easy, and jazzylicious "Carrot Potato Bisque" recipe, a wonderful addition to your holiday dining experience!
